an American fish in & out of Estonian waters

After the Storm

The sweet soft smell of rain

runs her fingers through the forest.

The mist retreats silently to the sea.

A tree,

bathed by the gentle rain,

scatters the sun’s bright rays

into the forest.

Lichen-covered branches,

framed sharply

against a fresh blue sky,

shimmer.

Nature holds her breath

as if admiring

her own beauty –

the shroud of silence

broken only

by the drip-dropping tears

falling

from leafless branches.
